Rock Bottom


When you hit rock bottom and all you can do is cry, He is your comfort.
When you hit rock bottom and fear takes over, He holds your hand and calms the storm.
When you hit rock bottom and doubt fills your heart, He invites you to trust Him.
When you hit rock bottom and feel yourself sinking, He rescues you.
When you hit rock bottom and your hope is gone, He stands as your helper.
When you hit rock bottom and don’t know where to run, He calls you to Himself and gives you rest.
When you hit rock bottom and want to give up, His grace carries you.
When you hit rock bottom and don’t know what to do, He guides your path.
When you hit rock bottom, He is right there with you.

Burnt Toast

  The smell of burnt toast filled the kitchen. I had tried to do many things at once. I put bread in the toaster, tossed fruits into the blender for a quick smoothie, rushed into the shower, then came back to iron my clothes. I took a final look at my presentation slides as well. Multitasking, they said, wasn’t for men, but I was running late. I had an important presentation at work and had already slept through several alarms. I scraped off the burnt parts of the toasted bread, gulped it down, took a few sips of the smoothie, and rushed out of the house. My laptop was in one hand, a file in the other with the rest of the smoothie in a covered cup, my phone in my pocket, and barely held on to my car keys as I struggled to lock the front door.
