Where My Dreams Take Me


My favourite part of the day is sleep.

It is then that I travel across countries miles away.

I can slay a dragon with my bare hands.

I can be Cinderella, with my prince charming by my side.

I can rule the Iron Throne.

I can fly across the world and become whoever I choose to be.

I can do the impossible.

For in my sleep, I dream dreams.

  The loud bang on the door forced me to run under the bed. Without waiting for a reply, the intruder entered. He was angry with a 9-millimeter caliber gun held firmly in his grip. Burnt Toast

  The smell of burnt toast filled the kitchen. I had tried to do many things at once. I put bread in the toaster, tossed fruits into the blender for a quick smoothie, rushed into the shower, then came back to iron my clothes. I took a final look at my presentation slides as well. Multitasking, they said, wasn’t for men, but I was running late. I had an important presentation at work and had already slept through several alarms. I scraped off the burnt parts of the toasted bread, gulped it down, took a few sips of the smoothie, and rushed out of the house. My laptop was in one hand, a file in the other with the rest of the smoothie in a covered cup, my phone in my pocket, and barely held on to my car keys as I struggled to lock the front door.
