A Flutter In The Quiet
It was just you and me in the silence,
then you asked the question I had been avoiding,
the one that sent my heart into a flutter,
and made a shiver trace its way down my spine.
“Do you like me?” you asked again.
My heart skipped a beat. I heard you the first time,
but the words were trapped in my throat.
Wasn’t it obvious?
Couldn’t you see it written all over my face?
Didn’t you notice the nervous giggles,
the way my lips trembled,
the softness in my voice,
and the shyness I could never hide around you?
Couldn't you see that my silence was the answer,
that I was in love with you.
